Our commitments
Behind the scenes
Since the beginning of Rouje, and even more so as we’ve expanded,we’ve been aware of the impact we can have on these key issues. Every day, we try to challenge and improve our ways of working. We are not perfect but we are constantly setting ourselves ambitious goals to do better, at our level. The road is long but here is already a report of the actions we’ve put in place and of the ones to come.
We'll update this page frequently to share the progress of our team and partners with transparency.
Our fabrics
72% of the pieces from our collection were produced from certified fabrics.
Our suppliers
The Rouje Chart of Conduct, signed by all of our suppliers
A Chart of Conduct written by Rouje guarantees that our ateliers respect international working norms and animal well-being. 100% of our ateliers are committed to respecting these requirements.
Want to take a peek? It's this way!
We also verify that these norms are respected: today, on top of our regular inspections, 69% of our ateliers are audited by external and independent organizations.
Where our pieces
are produced
86% of our pieces are made in Europe or around the Mediterranean for Spring-Summer.
All of our suppliers are carefully selected for their expertise. Most of them have been working with us since the beginning.
See below where our collection was produced.
And more...
The right quantities
We try as much as possible to produce the right quantities. That’s why we answer our customers’ needs by restocking during the season so as to avoid overproducing. This choice requires a lot of flexibility, from our internal teams as well as from our partners but this is one of our strengths.
A revolution on the packaging side
New paper packaging is used throughout our supply chain. It allows us to save 2 tonnes of plastic each year. 100% of our shipping boxes are now recycled, compared to 90% in 2021.
85%
of ground transportation
We strive to limit our environmental impact by choosing road transportation. Today, 74% of our items are shipped by land, allowing us to minimise our carbon footprint by choosing the least polluting method.
Upcycling and rehabilitation
Since 2021, Rouje has been partnering with the ReCréateurs, a non-profit helping to rehabilitate women facing housing difficulties. In their Paris atelier, they create scrunchies using fabrics from past collections. A nice way to give a second life to these forgotten prints.
Absolutely no waste at all
In January 2023, a fully upcycled collection is launched. It reused 2 000 meters of fabric and 332 kilograms of yarn. What was left over was given to the Esmod fashion school and La Friperie Solidaire ("The Solidarity Thrift Store") to help their members learn about the fashion industry.
Committed to supporting women
Thanks to special collections, donations, or actions, Rouje is an advocate for women. After supporting female entrepreneurship with Empow'her, we are now moving forward with La Maison des femmes de Saint-Denis. Since 2022, we offer you an upcycled piece with every collection and all its profits are donated to La Maison des Femmes. Its profits are 100% donated to La Maison des Femme to help fund its projects, from prevention to awareness-raising to education. Moreover, Jeanne Damas became one of this care center's ambassadors, a place dedicated to caring for and treating women who are victims of violence.
What's next?
We’re aware that there’s still a lot to be done.
Here are the objectives we aim to reach:
ALWAYS MORE RESPONSIBLE FABRICS
After making our jeans greener with organic and recycled cotton, we are keeping up with every piece, always favoring certified, responsible, or recycled fabrics.
A CARBON FOOTPRINT TO MEASURE OUR ACTIONS
In 2021, our carbon footprint helped us identify what actions to intensify to reduce our environmental impact. Meet your here later, for a second footprint.
Jeanne and the Rouje team are all working towards making Rouje get better every day.
